![]() With crystal chandeliers, velvet, marble, and gilt surfaces, Palais Garnier offers a sumptuous atmosphere to experience opera and ballet productions of the Opéra de Paris. The action took place in the basement of the Opera Garnier with its fictional underground lake and secret passages leading to the catacombs. ![]() ![]() Later the image was successfully romantisized by Gaston Leroux’s novel The Phantom of the Opera.
